...and then....Seattle throws us a curve....

Here is the weather we had...But they are a little over the top about the health of their trees in Seattle...

We still had amazing time!!!! Thanks to some very special birthday girls and Jon and LE. We had lots of great art, food, laughs and warm friendship on this trip. It just all went to fast. I think we needed the 12 hours it took to get home to decompress...well maybe not the whole 12 hours....But is was a really good chance to recharge the old art batteries....I have been flowing with ideas ever since....just need more studio time now.
This is our lunch at Tat's. They make their own pastrami then add delish slaw to it!
Mary is such a great traveling mate. We had a few challenges that a lesser person would not have taken in stride. Thank you Mary!!

And... of course it was heaven to spend time with LE and Jon. I miss you both so much! Thank you for sharing your cozy home with us and all the great food....no one does mac and cheese and Dutch babies like LE!!!

And now the scary news. I got a call from Jill at about 6 that she was in the hospital ER!!!!! Her heart rate had all of a sudden started racing. Luckily one of the Dr. she works for was still there and did an EKG then took her to ER. At one point her HR was 211. Just before they were going to give her a tray of drug choices she licked it and it started coming back to normal. So I brought her home and she will see a Dr. very soon to hopefully figure this out. SCARY!!!!

...some glimpses of Christmas

I didn't do much decorating...these are 2 cute Santas done by Sukie Hughes that I love. I put up some boughs and Madison put about 12 ornaments of one branch that I put in a bucket with other twigs and called it a tree....so cute. It was fun watching her get the idea of what Christmas is all about. She asked if her presents were still here the morning after Christmas. She also worried about Santa getting through the hole in the furnace.
Christmas we did some cookie decorating. She licked the frosting off of one and we decorated it again...don't worry no one other than Santa got any of these...He's used to it.
We had a little gift exchange and pizza at the Art Clinic Thurs. before Christmas. I did not get any good pictures but we all had fun. Several artists discovered they love needle felting...Good thing Knit Fit is close...or is it? This is Berta's fantastic box....one of many fun handmade trades.
I have most my deadlines met so I took a day to just paint. The two that are near done are my newest Flickr entries if you want to see them. Felt good to get painty again...

Queen of Arts Revisited

These are just a few of the artists. It was an amazing day...great weather, great artists. great people and much sharing. We raised a very nice sum for our charity and got to catch up with friends and make new acquaintances....a very successful day. Thanks to all the artists that worked so hard and to our patrons who make it all worth it.

Early Thanksgiving

We had a great day at the beach with family ....The most kids we have had together in a long time....7. They were so cute...and there are 2 more on the way.

My nephew, Jeff, was there from Iowa...so good to see him. The guys fished for shark. They caught 4 leopard sharks and released them after the kids got to touch them.

Madison has her own Thanksgiving menu....

Queen of Arts Revisited

Did anyone miss the Queen of Arts last weekend? You have another chance!! Queen of Arts Revisited is a one day show at my house with over 40 artists. I have a tiny house so there will be lots of artists outside so I am a little nervous about the weather ...but other than that it is going to be an amazing event. I am really excited!! The date is Sat. Nov. 26. ....check out the flyer for the skinny...I started Queen of Arts at my house, I think, 12 years ago and it grew so big that I was glad to move the show to the Elverhoj Museum. But now I kinda miss having my hand in it more....and I want it to go back to being a benefit for Domestic Violence Solutions, as it was before. So come by and shop and see all the great art, also bring by donations for the women and children in the shelter. They always need cleaning supplies, TP, towels, children's toys, personal items like shampoo etc, and of course a $ donation or gift certificate. Make checks out to Domestic Violence Solutions. When we give to these women it is not only filling their needs it is showing them that someone cares about them.

Queen of Arts and Queen of Arts Revisited

Queen of Arts at the Elverhoj Museum is Fri Nov 4, 4 to 7 and Sat Nov 5, 10 to 5 . .... and the Queen of Arts revisited, at my house, is Sat. Nov 26 10 to 4. The Queen..Revisited is a benefit for Domestic Violence Solutions. We have taken the shelter in Lompoc under our wing and hope to help them out in a big way again this year.

The artists will donate part of their earnings for the day and everyone is welcome to bring items for the women and children of the shelter. We can help them have a better holiday. They always need towels and cleaning supplies. Women's personal items like make up along with toys for the children is a nice offering also. You can email me or call if you need more info.

what I have been up to....

...well I am on the poster committee for the Artists Guild for Los Olivos Day's in Oct. ( it is going to be awesome!) ...Putting together an art show for the Art Clinic and the Artist's Salon in Oct with the theme being Dia de los muertos ( more info on the Art Clinic blog..cash prize,,,etc.)...getting ready for Queen of Arts at the Elverhoj ( N0v. 4 or 5) and Queen of Arts Revisited ( Nov. 26) at my house...I delivered lots of fun stuff to Blake at Casa de Maria in Montecito...broke my (f-bomb) cell phone....saw some cool vintage trailers in Buellton....and hung out with my sidekick, Madison. She told me today that she was sad this morning until we got a "cheer up" cookie at the Solvang Bakery....I just don't know where it all comes from....so fun!

Trying to get back in the grove

I am still floating around in good thoughts from my reunion. We had so much fun. Here is a picture of our last night at the beach house.

So I have been doing alot of playing around....even though I have plenty of work to get done....watching Madison paint is much more fun.

Madison is getting to be so girly that I thought she would like to play with the waxed lips...but she did not want them in her mouth so we had to just hold them up to her.

Here is the quilted car I saw on First Thurs. in Santa Barbara....

We had a great party for linda at the Art Clinic. Everyone made an amazing journal!! So fun to see what everyone comes up with.

...and today I went with Joe, Jill and Madison to the gem faire....planned to spend $20. ....but that soon turned into $120. You would think I would have some jewelry to show for that....
It is just the start of the 3 day weekend but I know it will go fast...Enjoy everybody...
