Ramping up for Art FiberFest and Queen of Arts
Forgive my lack of posting. It is my crunch time. 2 big events coming up fast!
ArtFiberFest is one of my bi-annual migrations North to Port Townsend, WA.... and to see LE. I am teaching 2 classes: Scissor Maidens and Art Folio and Journal...( still room at AFF if you are a fiber freak like me) Then there is vendor night which I am working hard on...I have some cool new ideas that I hope make it off the drawing board in time.
Then there is the 10th annual Queen of Arts. There will be 26 artists. 7 that are new. It is at the Elverhoj Museum in Solvang, CA over Veteran's Day weekend. The post card for the event is in the works. I had it in my home for many years. This is the 3rd years at the museum. It is alot easier for me...I don't have to take my furniture out of the house etc....
Anyway I just wanted to let you know what is going on. I still watch Madison weekdays. She just gets more and more fun. She is in love with her toes right now.
These are her current toys of choice right now.
...oh and I finished my " Ode to Jesse Reno". I loved that workshop...and I think about what I learned when I am painting now.....I am braver.

A Great Get Away....
The 4 amigas took off for San Francisco last weekend with the driving force being to see the Frida show at SFMOMA. It is not to be missed if you are anywhere near the bay area before the 28th. The exhibit of Chinese artists was really great too. I could only use my camera in the one area but it gives you an idea of what it was like in there. Mary has some great photos and details that I will try not to repeat here. Go see her blog for more info.
I thought it was interesting that we had all lived here within a few years of each other...in the 60's...doing completely different things. I came ...don't laugh... to go to modeling school...reality set in after the course ended and I got a job at the phone company. I moved three times and on this trip I saw the first 2 places I lived and I think I picked out the Grimme' Modeling building....but not positive I had it right.
Thanks to Sukie we found an amazing bakery/tacoria in Greenfield, La Plaza, on the way up.....We never had a bad meal the whole trip. I thought the Nanking place in Chinatown was excellent with some fun energy. The line went pretty fast. We told the waitress to bring us a shrimp dish and she she said she would make us something we would like ...and boy did she. If you go just say you want a chicken dish or whatever and leave it up to them.
The mission district in SF was pretty amazing. I like several shops there. I was glad to see so much indie art for sale and being bought. I saw things I had seen on blogs and on Etsy. Staying down town we were able to walk to many places. The fabric store, Britex, could have been a whole day experience as could have the farmer's market and the Ferry building. So as you can see the only bad thing was not enough time to do all we wanted to do. We didn't make it to Flax Art Store in time....or hit the right day for Tail of the Yak...guess we need to go back.
