beauty is in the eye of the beholder
This is a pin cushion Susan Buchanan made for a ugly pin cushion contest. It did not win and she gave it to me to replace my boring red tomoto pin cushion....lucky me!

The year is half gone....
I can't believe it! The 4th of July is a week away. I am behind on projects for a show that day in Santa Barbara, but I have been spending a lot of time blogging for Earl. He is on his Route 66 trip, Mother Road to Mothership they are stopping off in Roswell for the New Beetle /alien car show) ....and sends me phone pics everyday then calls and tells me what they are of...Last night was tough and I had a hard time getting them posted. Check it out if you are interested...anyway I forgot I had to get my ArtFest 08 class info to Tiphoni before midnight...oops...well it was midnight somewhere when she got it. So my blog has been suffering.
Here are a few pics of the Artists Guild of Santa Ynez Valley mixer and 20 year anniversary show from Sat.
Mine are way in the back there.
This is my art buddy Ron Guthrie's work. He does amazing work.
There are a lot of great artists in the guild and it was fun to see everyone's work. I hope we do this again.
Here is my "home" office...hehe

Happy mail
Yesterday I got 2 great posts. One from Tara with this great image on the front. I just LOVE it!
Do all artists love interesting letters and packages in the mail? I am even interested in cool junk mail....not that I want any more!
The other post was my acceptance letter to teach next year at ArtFest!!!! So exciting...here is a hint...Flip Books....
I also got...not in the mail..... these cute rubber duck image cards from Mary. They are such cute images and they are from my favorite place, IKEA ...Thank you Mary.

Art from Scrap Show
It's that time again...The Art from Scrap assemblage show. Here is my selected item. It was a tough decision. All the item were pieces of musical instruments. Carol got an item too. Now I need to go and pick out about 5 items...like I could limit myself to that...from the supplies at Art from Scrap in Santa Barbara, to add to the assemblage. This is the third year I have entered. I always look forward to it. If you are in the area join in!
...and by the way...here is the house Penny made me for her birthday party.....It looked at 4 others before I figured out this was the one she made for me. I love it!

ATC day
Here are a few I made for the trade today:
These are Jill's:
Here are the ones I got in the trade:
We are planning an ATC show of our collections for Sept 29 through Nov.14 at Art from Scrap in Santa Barbara. We are all excited about it. "Swap not Sold" is the name of the show. We will also have some ATC's available to trade with people that stop by.
But before our ATC gathering today I went to Penny's, a.k.a. Penny's Playhouse, for a birthday lunch. It is Penny's birthday and she threw a great party for herself and us. She made us all our own paper house. We had to guess which one was ours.
That was really fun. Beautiful and delicious lunch with of course cupcakes for dessert, made by Barbara. They were great!
We also had a "reveal" due. Susan had given us all small pieces of an unknown picture that we were to make bigger and reproduce in any medium we wanted. It is really cool. Some artist did their square in fabric, some painted, one was hooked and one was done with cut up foam core. My photo does not do it justice.
Here are some pic of Penny's collections
....and P. herself in her birthday finery.....

My latest self portrait
front
back
This slips into a really cool box where every artist has his own slot. I am so excited to have work in something that is Lynne Perella's and to have her work in a journal of mine.....It's been 2 years almost since I sent my little journal on it's art journey. It is so exciting. Now more than ever because there are so many of the artists I admire involved. I hope we can someday all get together and see the journals. Thank you again Teesha for asking me to join this amazing project!

More Latest
I have been on an abstract kick. Here are some I finished today. One is a little fuzzy..... I don't like to use a flash and I can't hold still enough.....so I get fuzz. The blue one should be a vertical....the left side in the photo goes down. Blogger is not kind to Mac users...and I am too lazy to take it to photoshop and work it.....

The latest
I am getting ready for a garden and studio tour. The bottom 2 of my latest...They are not really new. I just finally finished them...This is a bad habit of mine. I start paintings, get to a tough part and go start another one. I have to get in the right mood to finish them. The top one is in progress....
These are some mermaids I am taking to Imagine in Santa Barbara. Mary showed them the one I made her and they wanted some.....that was Feb.! Hope they are still interested...
